Muslim Pro Launches In-App Ramadan Campaign to Celebrate the Holy Month

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

  • Invite users to reconnect with their faith and to Muslim Pro through a holistic in-app experience
  • 30 days of content across different lifestyle categories throughout the entire Ramadan consisting of video series, articles, and a Ramadan starter kit
  • Collaborations with Muslim influencers, content creators, and Key Opinion Leaders from around the world

SINGAPORE, March 31, 2022 – The holy month of Ramadan is marked by social and religious gatherings where Muslim families and friends unite to break their fast together, after sunset during iftar or before dawn during suhoor.

Traditionally, many Muslims increase their attendance at mosques during the month and congregate for longer prayers for taraweeh and qiyam. Some Muslims also spend consecutive days and nights at mosques during the last 10 days of Ramadan (i’tikaf) for prayers.

However, as the COVID-19 pandemic continues, this Ramadan, Muslims had to comply with physical distancing measures, including the closing of mosques, monitoring of public gatherings, and other restrictions on movement. This will have direct implications for the social and religious gatherings central to Ramadan, causing people to feel disconnected in all aspects (practices and consumption habits) of being a Muslim.

This year, Muslim Pro’s Ramadan Reconnect campaign, which was officially launched on March 27, invite users to reconnect with their faith through the Muslim Pro app, providing a holistic experience for users to live the 30 days of Ramadan through its many different lifestyle offerings such as food, health, soul, and conversations on the Muslim identity, as well as through a variety of in-app content consisting of video series, articles, and a Ramadan starter kit.

Muslim Pro will be collaborating with Muslim influencers, content creators, and Key Opinion Leaders from around the world as the brand believes in showcasing the rich and diverse global Muslim community.

Fara Abdullah, Co-CEO at Muslim Pro said: “We have had an incredible year with a few key milestones and achievements such as the highly successful Khatam Qur’an campaign last Ramadan and new features such as our Streak Rewards. This Ramadan, we are featuring our beautiful and diverse Muslim cultures from around the world through our Muslim Pro brand, as there isn’t a cookie-cutter representation on the Muslim identity.”

Technology has been instrumental in keeping Muslims spiritually connected during the COVID-19 pandemic and will continue to play a role in enabling young Muslims to access their faith wherever they are. But tech also provides a means for platforms like Muslim Pro to elevate Muslim voices, perspectives, and profiles globally.

Despite making up almost a quarter of the world’s population, Muslims remain almost invisible in industries such as entertainment. While a few Muslim stars have made undeniable progress, Muslims worldwide have only begun to scratch the surface of what is possible. Countless stories are waiting to be explored.

“Muslim Pro aims to give Muslims around the world the stories, entertainment and enriching content that they are seeking. We want to open the door to users who might not have interest in an app focused solely on religious matters. We have invested in content across various lifestyle topics without losing sight of our company vision—reconnecting Muslims around the world through technology,” said Fara.

What Does Striving for Success Mean to You?

Success is simply defined as “the achieving of the results wanted or hoped for” in the Cambridge Dictionary, and that opens up a myriad of ways and spheres of life which success can be applied to. From the macro (like having success in relationships and careers) to the micro (like achieving success in finishing a book or getting through the day). And yet for some of us, the idea of success that’s been sold to us can be rather singular in nature, and often linked to measurable things like wealth, status, or the number of followers we have on social media.

But as the definition stands, we must set the areas and things we want to be successful in. We are in control of prioritising what truly matters to us. Is it health? Family? Impact and legacy? For Muslims, we are cognisant that life doesn’t end when we leave this world, and so we must cast our net wide. We often ask from Allah to grant us success in this world and in the hereafter.

And of them, whoever says: “Our Lord! Give us what is good (and beautiful) in the world and what is good (and beautiful) in the Hereafter and protect us from the torment of the Fire”.

[Al-Baqarah 2:201]

Hence, this February and March, Muslim Pro will delve into what it means to strive for success. How do we define success and has our personalised definition of it align with what we want to achieve in the hereafter? From learning from past successes of prophets to exploring the different ways success manifests itself in the world around us, we will be able to reflect on how we wish to define it for ourselves. Because ultimately, everyone’s version will look different and that’s okay.

Also, as we inch closer to Ramadan, we will look into good practices in Rajab and slowly gear ourselves up for the month of all months. Ibn Abbas reported:

The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Take advantage of five before five: your youth before your old age, your health before your illness, your riches before your poverty, your free time before your work, and your life before your death.”

[Saheeh al-Jaami’, no. 1077]

This is a beautiful reminder that success is often already in our hands and simply overlooked because we are so focused on the goals we are running towards. We may forget to be grateful and before we know it, we will start losing our health, our youth, our time, our wealth and ultimately our life. So let’s not wait til it’s too late; let us take stock of where we were, celebrate where we are now, prepare for where we wish to go, and seek that Allah’s blessings in granting us success in all the ways that He deems us worthy of having.

Muslim Pro Raised Over USD$115,000 for Afghanistan Children Emergency Funds in Support of UNICEF

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

  • Following the success of its Ramadan fundraiser for children’s welfare in Yemen, Muslim Pro teamed with UNICEF once more to support an emergency fundraiser for children affected by the crisis in Afghanistan.
  • The crowdfunding campaign in October surpassed its target within the first month, and was extended for another month.
  • By the end of 2021, Muslim Pro had raised over USD$115,000 for the Afghanistan emergency fund.

SINGAPORE, 31 December 2021 – Muslim Pro, the world’s most popular Muslim lifestyle app with 120 million downloads worldwide, has raised over USD$115,000 with UNICEF in its emergency fundraising efforts for the children affected by the crisis in Afghanistan.

The two-month campaign was well received by the app’s audience, successfully raising 70% of the target within the first month. The campaign signifies a continued collaboration with UNICEF, with Muslim Pro supporting the Children in Yemen Appeal campaign in May, coinciding with the app’s larger Ramadan campaign, which saw close to 500,000 completed Quran readings globally.

Fara Abdullah, Managing Director at Muslim Pro said: “We have had an incredible 2021 with UNICEF in its efforts to support the global community in need. In total, USD$165,000 was raised to support UNICEF’s emergency fund campaigns. We are extremely pleased with our crowdfunding efforts for the children of Afghanistan

The Crisis in Afghanistan

The humanitarian situation in Afghanistan has deteriorated significantly with the recent political and socioeconomic developments. Essential services are on the brink of collapse, exacerbating the needs of an already vulnerable population

  • Around 12.9 million children across Afghanistan need humanitarian assistance to survive.
  •  Multiple disease outbreaks (measles, acute watery diarrhoea, dengue, COVID-19) are ongoing.
  • In 2022, 8.7 million people will be in emergency level food insecurity and 1 in 2 children under 5 years will be acutely malnourished.

With the support through Muslim Pro crowfunding efforts and donors all over the world, UNICEF was able to provide life-saving services such as ready-to-use therapeutic food to nourish starving children; water trucking to the most in need communities; education supplies to children, including girls; and mobile health clinics to bring urgent medical care directly to vulnerable families and children in hard-to-reach areas.

Ms Fara added: “Muslim Pro would like to thank each and everyone who has made this fundraiser a success. We also look forward to our continued efforts with UNICEF and encourage the global community to help out the less fortunate in any way they can.”

Self-Reflection: An Introduction

Do you remember your days and moments in 2021 or did they go by in a blur? We are living in a time where the pandemic is now endemic, and we are struggling to keep up with the implications of this shift. What does it mean for our well-being, our relationships, our connection with our faith?

As we reflect on the year that’s about to pass, we dive within and into the past while finding a semblance of normalcy to hold onto in an unsettling time. We find ways to cope with the many changes that seem to arise outside of our control. How do we reconcile between what Allah has decreed and the choices that we’ve made in the past year that led us here?

For many, it may be a time to where we are forced to reprioritise what is truly important to us. Perhaps that comes in the form of rest: physical rest to regulate the body’s functionality, mental rest by scheduling pockets of time off to unwind, sensory rest from the weariness of overstimulation, or even social rest to create a more meaningful relationship with yourself and God.

This December and January, we will go on a journey of reflection and introspection to take stock of where we’ve been and where we’re going; to extend kindness to ourselves for the struggles we’ve faced; to remap our path and reaffirm our intentions for the coming year. Our theme on Reflections will cover the creative ways in which artists find faith in their creations, how we can deal with heavy emotions like grief, how we can empower our children in these troubled times, and above all, how we can find Allah’s grace in every moment by reflecting on His immense blessings.

Nobody said it would be easy. But perhaps the solid ground that we seek in the turbulent world filled with COVID anxiety does not come from having a solid grip on dunya but letting go and letting God guide you to an understanding that He is in control, and He knows best.

5 Greatest Miracles of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ

Whenever we hear the word miracle, surely immediately we will think of something that is beyond our understanding as a human being. On the other hand, nothing is impossible with the will of Allah. Similarly, there are various miracles performed by our beloved prophet, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ.

Miracle is an extraordinary event bestowed by Allah to His messengers as evidence of the authenticity of their prophecy. It is something that no other human being can do. Among the miracles of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ are:

1.     The Holy Quran

Say, “If mankind and the jinn gathered in order to produce the like of this Qur’an, they could not produce the like of it, even if they were to each other assistants.”

[Al – Isra’ 88:111]

The Holy-Quran is the first and the greatest miracles of the Prophet ﷺ. It is a book that will remain unchanged until the Day of Judgement and will always be the guide of life for Muslims around the world.

2.        The Splitting Moon

Narrated by Anas ibn Malik r.a:

أن أهل مكة سألوا رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم أن يريهم آية فأراهم القمر شقتين حتى رأوا حراء بينهما

The people of Mecca requested Prophet ﷺ to show them a miracle, and so he showed them the moon split in two halves between which they saw the Hira’ mountain.

[Sahih Al-Bukhari]

The miracle of the splitting moon is a miracle shown to the Meccan polytheists who asked for proof of his prophethood. Prophet ﷺ then said: “Witness”. When the moon split in two, the Hira’ mountain appeared to be between the two split moons. He explained that with Hira’ mountain visible, they could see that the moon was completely split.

3.     Isra and Miraj: The Night Journey and Ascension

Glory be to the Most Perfect One Who took His servant for a journey on a (blessed) night from Masjidil Haraam (in Mecca) to Masjidil Aqsa (in Jerusalem) where its surrounding area We have blessed so that We may show him some of Our signs. Indeed, He alone is the One who hears all and sees all.

[Al – Isra’ 1:111]

4.     Water Flowed from Prophet’s ﷺ Hands

Narrated by Anas ibn Malik r.a:

أتي النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم بإناء وهو بالزوراء فوضع يده في الإناء فجعل الماء ينبع من بين أصابعه فتوضأ القوم

Prophet ﷺ was given a container while in Zawra’ and he dipped his hands in the container. Then, water began to flow from his fingers like a fountain and the people performed ablution.

[Sahih Al – Bukhari]

Once the time for prayer approached but the companions could not find any water to perform ablution and this matter came to the knowledge of the Prophet ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ asked for a bowl and put his hand in the bowl and the water began to squirt out of his fingers and the water sufficed for the companions to perform ablution.

5.     A Little Amount of Food That Multiplied

Narrated by Anas ibn Malik r.a:

Abu Talhah sent me to Prophet to call him to eat. He said: I met Rasulullah ﷺ. when he was with the people, then he looked at me, I was ashamed, and I said: Accept the invitation of Abu Talhah. He then said: “Come on (all)”. Abu Talhah said: O Messenger of Allah ﷺ. I have only prepared a little food for you. The Prophet touched the food and prayed for blessings for him and then said: “Enter ten people” and then said: “Eat”. He scooped the food out of his fingers, then they ate until they were full and then they came out. Then he said: “Enter ten more”. They ate until they were full. This thing went on for ten people until all were full. Then he kept the food while the contents were the same as when they ate earlier (a lot).

[Muslim]

This incident happened when Abu Talhah heard the weak voice of Prophet ﷺ and he knew that it was a sign that the Prophet ﷺ was feeling hungry. He then, told his wife to prepare food for the Prophet ﷺ. The food they had was very little. Hence, he asked Anas Bin Malik to invite the Prophet ﷺ to eat at his house. At that time, the Prophet ﷺ was in the mosque with other companions. Then he invited all of them to come along. The matter surprised Abu Talhah because the food provided was not enough for all the companions, but only for the Prophet ﷺ. However, when the Prophet ﷺ entered the house of Abu Talhah, the Prophet ﷺ asked the companions, as many as ten people at a time, to enter the house to eat in turns and then distributed food to them until they were all full and satisfied. The total number at that time was 70 or 80 people.

Insha’Allah, by knowing more about the various miracles from the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, we can increase our faith in Allah.
